EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATIONAL LEADER

Alpine Children's Services (ACS) is a not-for-profit community organisation providing high-quality early childhood education and care to families in the Alpine Shire. ACS promotes the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of all children. We offer a warm, engaging workplace in a team environment.

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Educational leader to join our team on a permanent full-time or part time basis. Generous pay and conditions.

This is a dynamic role for a passionate, experienced professional who values collaboration, reflection, and innovation. As Educational Leader, you will travel between services and work closely with educators and service leaders to ensure programs are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, evidence-informed, and aligned with current best practices. You will play a key role in driving pedagogical excellence, supporting professional growth, and leading continuous improvement efforts across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Pedagogical Leadership & Compliance

Ensure all program activities meet the National Quality Standards (NQS), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), Council policies (including EYP), Australian Early Childhood Association Code of Ethics, and all relevant government guidelines and legislation.

Integrate contemporary research and innovative strategies into curriculum and service delivery to promote children’s learning and development.

Apply pedagogical knowledge to:

Promote equity, access, and success in learning for all children.

Support and improve daily routines in consultation with educators.

Guide staff in documenting children's development and wellbeing effectively.

Ensure all programs demonstrate:

Consultation with children, families, educators, and community partners.

Promotion of children’s agency, health, and wellbeing.

Implementation of critical reflection and ongoing program modification.

Mentorship & Professional Development

Facilitate high-impact professional learning via:

Coaching, mentoring, observation, and feedback.

Development and delivery of service-wide and individual training plans.

Completion and follow-up of annual staff appraisals and action plans.

Supporting skill development matrices aligned with strategic workforce planning.

Collaborative Culture & Capacity Building

Foster a professional, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.

Build strong relationships with all team members and mentor staff undertaking further training.

Support implementation and staff understanding of:

NQF, EYLF, VEYLDF, and Quality Improvement Plans (QIP) inclusive of children's voices.

Child Safe Standards and trauma-informed practices.

Service and personal philosophies, Reconciliation Action Plan, and Early Years Assessment tools.

ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development) and the importance of cross-room collaboration.

Community Engagement & Family Partnerships

Promote quality early education to families and the broader community.

Empower families to contribute meaningfully to service improvement.

Establish welcoming, inclusive environments for all families

Leadership & Accountability

Respond professionally to program-related enquiries and promote the service positively in all interactions.

Ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures.

Contribute to and support leadership decisions and strategic initiatives.

Commit to achieving and maintaining high quality standards across all services.

Qualifications & Experience

Ideally Bachelor of Education or Teaching (Early Childhood). Diploma qualified with extensive leadership experience may be considered

Current training in Child Safe Standards and trauma-informed practice.

First Aid/CPR/ Valid Working with Children Check/VIT

5+ years working in Early Childhood, ideally experience in multicultural environments and teams; ideally 2 years at least in leadership roles (EL or room leader)

Knowledge & Skills:

Pedagogical excellence and a growth mindset.

Strong understanding of child development and contemporary educational practices.

In-depth knowledge of the NQF, EYLF, VEYLDF, Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, and ECA Code of Ethics.

Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and evaluation.

Ability to lead and inspire diverse teams, providing mentorship and modelling best practices.

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
