Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-operative is committed to the ongoing journey of closing the gap on educational disparities between Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and non-Aboriginal children. BADAC is facilitating a program of providing Early Childhood Education and Care Services in response to the needs of our community.

We are seeking an innovative, dedicated & experienced Educational Pedagogical Leader to lead our team of passionate and professional Educators at our Brown Hill - Perridak Burron Early Learning service.

The Perridak Burron (meaning ‘Platypus Children') Early Learning Centre provides a culturally safe and rich learning environment where families and the community are collaborators in each child’s learning journey from birth through to school engagement. Perridak Burron will combat and support the barriers and factors that impact upon Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families’ participation in early year’s education. This program initiates the instilling of Aboriginal culture and history on the journey from birth to elder aligning to BADAC’s holistic principle.

We are looking for a Leader who:

Is genuinely willing and motivated to work with Educators to mentor and embed continuous improvement

Clear understanding of the Child Safety Standards

Have vibrant energy and are an uplifting team player

Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills

Create inclusive, professional, and positive relationships with Educators

Have the experience and knowledge to improve, manage and guide Educators with planning and programming

Have strong time management, organizational skills and flexible

Are willing to participate in staff meetings, staff training and team building activities

Commitment to providing a culturally safe learning environment to our families and community

What you’ll need:

Bachelor of ECE or a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or ACECQA-approved equivalent qualification

Have an understanding of, or commitment to learn the 8 Aboriginal Ways of Learning (8AWOL)

Available to work between 7:00am and 6:00pm

Sound understanding of the; Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), Victorian Child Safe Standards and Child Protection, Children's Services Regulations and National Quality Standards (NQS)

Current Employee Working with Children Check

Current First Aid and CPR certificates

To be considered for roles with BADAC you will need to:

Have (or be willing to have) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children Check Clearance.

Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Child Safe framework committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with Perridak Burron.
