We are currently tendering for work to assist the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to roll out a new national service to support individuals experiencing common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression through evidence-based interventions delivered by trained practitioners via telehealth.
We're seeking expressions of interest from individuals to become the Clinical Lead for this service. If AHA is successful in relation to the tender process, the successful candidate in this EOI process will be offered this position with expected commencement on 1 October 2025.
The Clinical Lead will be responsible for ensuring clinical excellence, safeguarding, staff supervision, operational effectiveness, and regulatory compliance across the service. The role also involves stakeholder engagement, quality improvement initiatives, and the advancement of service delivery models in line with national guidelines and best practice.
This role can be located in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane with occasional visits to the Melbourne office required.

Key responsibilities:
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Clinical Lead will:
- Assist with establishment and implementation of the service including clinical frameworks, referral pathways, workflows, overseeing the development and documentation of service protocols, training materials, procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, induction and training of the new service delivery team.
- Provide leadership and clinical oversight of the service through clinical governance and adherence to national standards to ensure safe, effective, trauma informed and person-centred care.
- Ensure the service is delivered efficiently and safely, whilst also meeting clinical governance, best practice standards, clinical KPIs, strategic objectives and compliance requirements.
- Build high performing, cohesive and resilient teams within a positive inclusive workplace culture that is trauma informed and has culturally safe principles.
- Ensure compliance with relevant professional, legal, and ethical standards and lead safeguarding and duty-of-care protocols for all help seekers and staff.
- Liaise with peak bodies and academic institutions and foster collaborative relationships with GPs, mental health services, and community organisations.
Required:
- Postgraduate qualification in Psychology, CBT, Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, or equivalent.
- Unrestricted AHPRA Registration or AASW clinical registration.
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification clinical experience, including experience in delivering and overseeing LiCBT services.
- Demonstrated leadership in a mental health or psychological therapy setting.
- Strong knowledge of telehealth and digital mental health service models.
- Experience in clinical governance, supervision, safeguarding, and performance improvement.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and change management skills.
