Community Landscape Officer
SA Arid Lands Landscape Board
Posted 8 days ago
Are you passionate about supporting regional and remote communities to protect, manage and improve natural resources across some of the most beautiful and iconic landscapes in South Australia? With engagement a key part of the role, you will work closely with community to ensure their input remains central to the board's decision making and project delivery. No two days are the same and this role provides many new opportunities and experiences.
As a Community Landscape Officer, you are motivated, have a sense of adventure, and relish the opportunity to be a valued team member. You are resourceful and focussed on delivering community-based outcomes and shared responsibility for our natural resources under the Landscape Act SA 2019. You will be joining a team of like-minded people, all with a passion and commitment for working alongside community to tackle challenges and embrace landscape management opportunities unique to this region. This role requires regular travel into the region, including occasional weekend work, and remote overnight absences.
SA Arid Lands Landscape Board staff walk together with First Nations people, pastoralists, a range of industries, sectors and the broader community to care for land, water and nature and learn together on sustaining the environment and economies.
You will bring experience and proven capability in one or more disciplines across community development and engagement, NRM extension, sustainable agriculture, or similar. If this sounds like a great fit, then we'd love to hear from you!
About the Role:
The Community Landscape Officer leads and supports community participation through Landscape Groups to inform Board decisions, and deliver activities, training and events. This includes supporting the community to increase knowledge on NRM issues, connecting community with information on pest plant and animal control, and soil and water related matters. In addition to leading and facilitating a Landscape Group, this role will build on the strong links with landholders, volunteer groups, community, First Nation groups, government organisations and industry to develop partnerships that achieve NRM outcomes. The CLO is a key part of delivering key outcomes in board projects including its successful sustainable agriculture program, environmental projects and supporting the board's annual grassroots grants program.
Application Instructions:
All applications must be submitted online and include a letter of application (max 3 pages) specifically addressing how you will achieve the Key Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description.
Please also submit a copy of your latest resume (including 3 current referees) and a pre-employment declaration.
To gain a greater understanding of the role, contact Cherie Gerlach, Manager Partnerships and Community Engagement on 0427 413 345 or [email protected]
