We’re seeking a dynamic, experienced Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) Level 2 to lead our Surgical Inpatient Unit at Wyong Hospital — a fast-paced, high-turnover ward underpinned by a strong culture of teamwork, compassion, and commitment to clinical excellence.
This is a key leadership position for a proven nursing leader who thrives on responsibility, drives results, and models human-centred, contemporary healthcare leadership.
About You
You are a confident and capable clinical leader with demonstrated success in managing complex inpatient environments. Your leadership is proactive, inclusive, and strategic. You understand the realities of leading high-performing teams in high-pressure settings, and you do so with clarity, energy, and a people-first mindset.
You’re known for:
Proven experience leading busy inpatient units (surgical or equivalent)
A calm, values-led approach to leadership during high-demand situations
Strong decision-making, resource management and patient flow coordination
The ability to lead with purpose and inspire a cohesive, motivated team
A passion for nursing excellence, clinical safety, and continuous improvement
A commitment to human-centred leadership and collaborative practice
You lead with integrity and aren’t afraid to make the difficult decisions, but you’re equally committed to mentoring and developing the team around you. You’ll be supported to lead with both clinical authority and emotional intelligence, backed by senior nursing leaders who walk the talk.
About the Role
This role is pivotal to the operational and clinical leadership of Wyong’s Surgical Inpatient Unit, a dynamic environment where strong leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration are essential. You will:
Coordinate all aspects of unit operations clinical, workforce, financial and strategic under the guidance of highly supportive, mentoring focussed Operational Nurse Manager
Lead and role-model contemporary nursing practices aligned with best-practice standards
Work closely with a highly engaged nursing workforce and cross-functional teams
Drive high-quality patient outcomes while supporting professional growth within your team
Partner with senior nursing and operational leaders to enhance models of care and innovation
Champion performance against key indicators while promoting staff wellbeing and engagement
