Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Senior Policy Coordinator to join QUT Governance, Administrative Division.
The Senior Policy Coordinator will support the delivery and distribution of the University’s policy framework, by managing the Manual of Policies and Procedures (MOPP), and providing advice, guidance and resources to Policy Owners in the development and review of university policy. The position is responsible for coordinating university elections for Council and committee memberships and undertaking other university-wide ballots (eg Enterprise Agreements), in conjunction with the Office of the University Registrar. The position liaises with staff at all levels in the University and is part of the Compliance, Policy and Records team in QUT Governance.

QUT Governance is responsible for a range of administrative functions and provides committee services to Council and university-level committees in support of decision-making. The Department provides support to other governance and compliance activities, including right to information and privacy, records management, and the development and review of university policies. The Department administers the University’s enterprise risk management and oversees business continuity management. QUT Governance provides guidance on quality activities as they relate to the national regulator (the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency), including managing compliance with mandated higher education standards..
What you need to succeed
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field together with extensive relevant work experience.
- Highly developed written communication skills, including the ability to draft and prepare policy, submissions, proposals, and clear and concise reports and correspondence.
- Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills, including experience proactive liaising with internal and external stakeholders at a variety of levels, negotiating outcomes and taking a consultative approach to achieve positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated high-level of analytical ability and initiative, including the capacity to proactively organise and self-direct complex and long-term projects to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to self-initiate and proactively undertake detailed quality assurance and editorial work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Demonstrated understanding of corporate governance principles and frameworks, and experience in the interpretation of legislation and government policy (no legal expertise is required, however the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to adapt policy frameworks in response to changes in the legislative/regulatory environment).
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of multidisciplinary teams of staff, and to lead and manage work teams to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
