If you are passionate about preserving and enhancing Sydney's urban parks and open spaces, we have a unique opportunity for you. Greater Sydney Parklands is a city-wide agency dedicated to the growth and preservation of parklands and is seeking a dedicated Operations Coordinator to join our team. As an Operations Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of designated parks by ensuring high standards of asset management maintenance and development in landscape, facility, and infrastructure maintenance.

The role
These roles provide the essential operational oversight to ensure our parklands are in optimum condition with a focus on visitor experience, public safety, and meeting community expectations every day. They focus on coordinating maintenance programs and managing service providers to meet contract, safety, and quality requirements. Key responsibilities include auditing service quality, supporting contract management, driving improvement programs, and ensuring that visitor needs are met through effective facility upkeep and incident response.

Within the Operations teams we have a pool of Coordinator staff structured into specialist streams of work, including a focus on Landscape, facilities and infrastructure, reactive maintenance and natural and cultural assets. We seek to fill these roles with skilled parkland professionals, working as a coordinated and collaborative team. Movement within the team to manage other streams of work is anticipated over time to ensure staff develop and team support occurs for all works streams:

Landscape services – manage diverse landscapes ranging from open space, sports fields, display gardens, native vegetation management – embedded within diverse parkland settings in cultural landscapes of state and national significance.

Facilities and Infrastructure services – manage a diverse range of facilities and infrastructure, ranging from recreation facilities (including athletics, BMX, MTB, equestrian, playgrounds, shelters, amenities) to utilities, buildings and historic structures.

Reactive maintenance – Oversee and manage reactive maintenance services to ensure that parkland facilities and assets are well-maintained and fully functional, providing seamless access for community use and enjoyment.

Natural and cultural assets (Identified Role) - Oversee a diverse range of programs to ensure the enhancement and sustainability of our natural and cultural assets within active parklands.

What is an essential requirement:

  • Tertiary qualifications in building, parks and recreation, landscape, asset, facilities, project management or equivalent experience in relevant disciplines.
  • Ability to be contacted and / or work outside of normal bandwidth hours and on weekends if required.
  • Current driver’s licence and ability to travel for work at any site within the GSP portfolio as directed.
