Job description:
Location: Sydney CBD
Employment Type: Ongoing full-time
Salary ranging from: $110,266 to $122,058 p.a. plus employer superannuation contribution and annual leave loading.
Your role
Are you passionate about justice, integrity, and making a real difference in the custodial system? Join the Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services as the Official Visitor Coordinator and help ensure independent oversight of correctional and youth justice facilities across NSW. This is a unique opportunity to lead a vital program that supports transparency and accountability in custodial environments.
What you'll do
As part of the Inspector of Custodial Services team, you will coordinate the Official Visitor Program, supporting approximately 90 Official Visitors across NSW. You'll manage appointments, training, and communications, ensuring the program operates effectively and within legislative requirements.
You'll also:
- Analyse complaints to identify systemic issues
- Provide strategic advice to the Inspector of Custodial Services
- Participate in inspections and stakeholder forums
- Liaise with key partners including Corrective Services NSW, Youth Justice NSW, and Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network
You'll work in a small, collaborative team committed to integrity, fairness, and continuous improvement, in a professional and supportive office environment.
What We're Looking For
- Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills, ideally in a regulatory or oversight environment
- Experience interpreting legislation and policy to inform operational decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
- Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
Appointments are subject to reference checks. Some roles may also require the following checks/ clearances:
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
- Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
