Newtown Mission is a Parish Mission of the Uniting Church in Australia with multiple sites across the Inner West of Sydney. Newtown Mission is a community forming disciples of Jesus in the Inner West for a rapidly changing world. We are engaged in a wide range of activities including emergency food and welfare support, regular Christian worship, affordable housing, a Creative Arts centre, and developing local community connections.

The Jordan Café is the Newtown Mission community space that offers free meals, emergency food support, legal aid and other support services for people in need.

The Role includes:

1. Liaising with the Community Development Program Coordinator for weekly tasks.

2. Provide clerical, administrative and community engagement support to the Jordan Café Office as required.

3. Assist with the regular delivery, storage, and packing of food supplies

4. Assist with receiving, recording, and organising donations

5. Assist with meal preparation, kitchen cleaning, and café preparation.

6. Assist in kitchen maintenance, in adherence with the Food Safety Plan checklists, routines, and reporting.

Skills and Experience:

• Capacity to deal with a diverse range of tasks in an environment with multiple demands

• A willingness to serve people in a community setting with diverse needs

• Good time management skills

• Ability to work in a team environment

•Some administration experience (Microsoft teams, Outlook, databases)

Location: Newtown

Part-time

$27-30 per hour

15 hours per week
