Heavy Diesel Mechanic – Full-Time Local Karratha Position with Excellent Remuneration and Benefits

KAW Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team. We have a full-time permanent position available for immediate start, with opportunities for both workshop and site-based work throughout the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy vehicle and mobile plant maintenance, with demonstrated expertise in diagnostics, repairs, and servicing across a wide range of heavy equipment. Experience in field service, hydraulic system repairs, and working on mining or industrial equipment will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

Perform servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy diesel vehicles and mobile plant

Respond to breakdowns and carry out field service work as needed

Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections

Maintain accurate records and complete job documentation

Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards

What You’ll Need

Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent relevant trad

Minimum 5 years post-trade experience with heavy equipment (CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, etc.)

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

Solid understanding of hydraulic systems

Field service or remote breakdown experience

Ability to work independently and within a team

Current Drivers licence

Ability to pass a full medical and drug and alcohol test

Ability to provide a national police clearance upon request

Highly Regarded (Not Essential)

Motor Vehicle Repairers Certificate

Specialised Technical Training (eg. Komatsu, Volvo)

Forklift or EWP tickets

Site cards or inductions: RIO, BHP, FMG, or MSIC
