The opportunity

We have a Civil Project Engineer position available within the Capital Works – Civil Projects Team for the right person who shares the same passion for ‘hands on’ project management and infrastructure delivery to join their team. You’ll be both challenged and rewarded, and will be part of a great team with a fantastic culture.

You’ll focus on a specific deliverables in the planning and execution phases of current civil projects, such as attending to onsite responsibilities and assisting project managers in developing future projects.

Manage capital works projects from the initiation stage through planning, estimating, executing and completion ensuring that safety, environmental and quality management requirements are met. The position manages consultants and contractors performing work on behalf of Council.

Projects will vary across a range of roads and drainage infrastructure across the beautiful Port Stephens local government area.

This is a permanent position working 35 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement

Base Salary Range: $79,377 - $92,960 pa based on 35 hours / week + 12% superannuation + $18,619 Motor Vehicle Allowance + $2,312 retention allowance

Salary reflective of 3.5% salary increase + increased superannuation guarantee from 1 July 2025.

You will be working from PSC Administration Building, Raymond Terrace

Degree qualifications in civil engineering, project management, construction management and/or extensive experience in civil infrastructure projects.

Demonstrated experience in the application of relevant legislation, standards and civil construction practices.

Experience with investigating, analysing and resolving complex infrastructure problems. Demonstrated project and contractor management skills including the preparation of project quality plans and assessment of tenders.
