EXPERIENCE
3+ in Fire Safety Engineering for Intermediate Engineer
Experience in Compliance Assessment, Building Surveying, or Fire Services Engineering is highly desirable.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Vector Alliance is seeking Graduate or Intermediate Fire Safety Engineers to join our National Fire Safety team. As a Fire Safety Engineer joining a rapidly growing team, you will play a critical role in quality delivery of Fire Engineering projects and enabling growth of the Adelaide or Canberra office. You will be assisting in delivery of Fire Engineering documentation, providing technical advice to our clients, liaising with stakeholders (including fire brigades), and training junior engineers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct Fire Safety Engineering Analysis, calculations and modelling.
Develop fire strategies and solutions in line with industry standards and fire brigade requirements to facilitate compliance with BCA and referenced standards.
Coordinate with other disciplines and liaise with stakeholders to create tailored Fire Engineering Solutions and ensure seamless project delivery.
Review design documentation with respect to fire engineering requirements to confirm implementation of Fire Safety Strategy and identify deviations.
Assist in and contribute to the growth of the Adelaide or Canberra fire engineering team by offering leadership and training to graduate and junior fire engineers.
Execution of Project Administration and Project Management related tasks as directed.
Attendance at site inspections and project meetings, and preparation of reports or minutes.
Familiarisation with office procedures, design techniques, calculation methods, and design software.
Management of your own time, tracking of your own tasks and adherence to deadlines.
A commitment to accuracy, high standards of written and verbal communication, punctuality, organisation, presentation and to ongoing development and improvement in these areas with a view to your refinement of a well-rounded base of consulting skills and technical knowledge.
Commitment and adherence to systems and policies which govern the day to day operation of our Quality Assurance System, Workplace Health and Safety policy and other policies implemented by Management.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
Graduate Level:
You have an Australian recognised tertiary qualification in Engineering or similar. Tertiary education shall be at the level of professional engineer within Engineers Australia Accredited Programs schedule
You have good interpersonal and communication skills using the English Language.
You have clear and effective verbal and written communications using the English Language.
You are proficient in report writing and can produce clear and concise reports.
You are proficient in using Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
You have the ability to problem solve and apply critical thinking.
You have the ability to undertake independent research and investigation.
You are hardworking and eager to learn.
You have experience with Computer Aided Drafting and Building Information Modelling Software, including AutoCAD and REVIT.
You have experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics.
Additional Skills for Intermediate Level:
You have a recognised tertiary qualification or similar in Fire Safety Engineering.
You possess extensive knowledge of SA or ACT legislation, the National Construction Code, Australian Standards, the AFEG, and other fire engineering-related literature.
You have experience in Fire Safety Engineering design and calculations utilising design and modelling software, including but not limited to Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), Pathfinder, and CFAST.
You are technically proficient in fire science and preparing fire engineering documentation.
You are experienced in consultation with project stakeholders such as clients, user groups, engineers, architects, designers, authorities, certifiers, other professionals, installing contractors, builders and the like.
You hold membership with relevant professional institutions or Engineers Australia.
You are willing and able to travel across SA or the ACT (and surrounds) to undertake site inspections.
Other Desirable Skills:
You are familiar with Fire Services Engineering design and requirements enabling provision of realistic Fire Engineering solution that are considerate of Fire Services design.
You are Chartered or listed on the NER, or currently pursuing Chartership or National Engineering Registration through Engineers Australia or an equivalent accredited body.
You are a Registered Professional Engineer in the ACT with a License Class of Fire Safety and / or Mechanical, or are eligible or awaiting assessment.
You are a NSW Certifier – Fire Safety (previously C10) accredited fire engineer or are awaiting assessment to competently sign off projects in compliance with the NSW EP&A Reg 2021.
You are a NSW Fire Engineering Design Practitioner or awaiting assessment to sign off Class 2, 3, and 9c projects in accordance with NSW DBPA 2020.
