People & Culture Manager (10-month Full-time Maternity Leave Cover)

We’re on the lookout for a passionate People & Culture Manager to join us—an award-winning design studio— on a 10-month full-time contract while our current leader takes parental leave.
In this role, you’ll be the trusted advisor to senior leaders and play a hands-on role in delivering high-quality HR support across the entire employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding through to performance, development, compliance, and culture.
What you’ll do
Provide strategic and practical HR advice to partners, leaders, and staff
Oversee end-to-end recruitment and onboarding
Lead and improve performance management and feedback frameworks
Guide leaders through employee relations matters with care and professionalism
Manage visa applications and compliance with Business Sponsorship obligations
Oversee learning & development aligned with practice goals
Ensure compliance with Fair Work, WHS, EEO and Modern Awards
Lead fortnightly and ad-hoc workforce planning meetings
Oversee payroll coordination and HRIS management (ConnX)
Champion a values-driven culture of respect, collaboration, and accountability
What you’ll bring
Tertiary qualification in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 7 years’ broad HR generalist experience in a professional setting
Strong coaching and mentoring skills across all levels
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
In-depth knowledge of Australian workplace legislation and IR practices
Ability to build trust quickly and manage competing priorities with ease
