The Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation (Jabalbina) administers native title rights, Aboriginal freehold land, and Indigenous Land Use Agreements on behalf of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji People.
We are seeking a person to fill a senior operational role within the Diwan Ranger Team who currently achieves great results on Aboriginal Lands, which are jointly managed by Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation (JYAC) and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS).
In your new role as Ranger in Charge for the Diwan team, you will be based in the Mossman and Daintree region. In collaboration with your counterpart at QPWS you will plan and manage work priorities for the Diwan Team whilst also attending to HR and conduct-related matters.
Some of your duties include:
Coordinate and deliver agreed projects, including visitor management, infrastructure and plant maintenance, natural and cultural resource management, fire management, and pest control.
Coordinate contingency and emergency responses, including natural disaster contingency plans, wildfire response procedures, search and rescue procedures and medical emergency procedures.
Manage conduct matters, leave and timesheets within the Diwan Team
Support a team culture that is inclusive, high-performing, and culturally safe.
Coordinate engagement with the EKY community and Elders to support communication and delivery of EKY cultural priorities.
Administrative activities such as planning, monitoring, reporting and records maintenance

Essential requirements:
Cert III in Conservation and Land Management or equal experience
Open Driver’s license
Blue Card, or the ability to obtain
First Aid
Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities or community-controlled organisations (experience with the Eastern Kuku Yalanji community is highly desirable)
Proven leadership and management skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of conservation, visitor and recreation management, pest and fire management, and cultural heritage management in protected areas
Experience in planning and delivering natural and cultural resource management projects
Knowledge of infrastructure, machinery, and equipment maintenance and operation
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Computer skills
