VET RECEPTION NURSING- full time
Vet Skin and Ear
Posted 3 days ago
Full time role, 3-4 days in-clinic and some work from home. Busy Melbourne veterinary dermatology-only vet practice located in NW suburbs to start as soon as practical. The business is well established and has serviced the Melbourne and Geelong areas for 7 years now. Our clients are lovely, and the work conditions are very good.
The position will require 85% reception duties. Reception experience is required. We are looking for a long-term applicant. For the right applicant, there may be an opportunity for business part-ownership.
There is a small component of surgical nursing work which is easy to train you to assist with if required. The surgical nursing part of the role will involve assisting with basic surgical procedures including mostly allergy testing, and endoscopy of ears of dogs and cats. The specific tasks in this domain will involve close monitoring of patients under sedation and general anaesthesia, blood collection, cannula placement. We have endoscopes that you will need to assist to operate. These are skills that a sharp learner can be trained to assist with.
Previous work in a veterinary practice is preferred but not vital.
Reception experience, basic admin skills, and customer service experience really the important skills.
We need a "people person", who likes to talk with clients and welcome them and their pets with a friendly smile.
Applicant needs to be good with people, friendly with new and existing clients, organized and able to multi-task. Attention to detail is a must. You need to be sharp, thorough, efficient, and be able to complete tasks completely and thoroughly.
Pay rate is very reasonable. For a person who is organized, with attention to detail, the role is relatively straightforward. The position requires no after-hour nor weekend work. Certain days of the week you will be working sole-charge on reception - so you need to become comfortable with working on your own.
Applicants ideally need to be able to:
-fill the standard roles of reception - ideally medical or veterinary reception. This will involve significant multi-tasking.
Extra skills that are useful, but we can train you to do also:
-competently restrain dogs and cats
-place IV cannulas
-restrain animals for blood collection.
Previous work contact referees (at least two) are required.
Business hours are 8:30am-6:30pm. Training is provided.
