You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge, and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘your key responsibilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated competence and thorough working knowledge in all aspects of pre-analytical specimen processing together with a sound knowledge of laboratory operations in all disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and co-ordinate a Central Specimen Reception service while ensuring the maintenance of professional clinical standards, and established principles / procedures in line with the Department of Health Strategic Plan.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the procedures and processes of Specimen Collection or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and skills in this area.
- Demonstrated leadership, initiative, highly developed communication skills, and a commitment to personal and organisational excellence.
- Demonstrated high level skills, or the ability to rapidly acquire high level skills, in the use of Microsoft Office applications and the laboratory information system (AUSLAB).
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with National Association of Testing Authority/International Standardisation Organisation (NATA/ISO) accreditation / certification.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional self-development.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- Mandatory Qualifications – nil
- Cert IV in Laboratory Techniques (or equivalent) would be highly regarded.
