Not your average Emergency Medicine role…
This is your opportunity to combine fascinating clinical work, procedural medicine, Indigenous health, and the rewarding challenges of senior leadership in a smaller, remote Emergency Department. Flexible and job-share arrangements are available – we’re open to making this your dream job.
About the Role
We’re seeking a unique and experienced doctor to provide senior support in our remote hospital ED. You’ll be part of a tight-knit, collaborative team delivering high-quality care in a truly special part of Australia.
Why You’ll Love It Here
Diverse Clinical Experience: 16,000 ED presentations annually, with a rich mix of adult and paediatric cases. The average age of admitted adults is 45 – and best of all, there’s no access block.
Indigenous Health Focus: Over half of our region’s population is Aboriginal, representing many different language groups. A genuine interest in Indigenous health is essential.
Challenging & Rewarding Medicine: Tropical medicine, trauma, remoteness, high acuity, and complex comorbidities – this is medicine that matters.
Attractive Package: Competitive remuneration, accommodation, relocation support, and generous allowances.
Flexible Roster: We offer a civilised, negotiable schedule with some after-hours on-call. We’re happy to accommodate other professional or personal commitments.
Supportive Network: Strong ties with retrieval services and Royal Darwin Hospital help maintain your professional development and networks.
Our Team
Senior ED staff include FACEMs and Senior Rural Generalists with anaesthetics and emergency experience.
Medical staff include FACRRM registrars, interns, and residents rotating from Darwin Hospital.
You’ll work alongside a stable and collegial senior clinical team including General Physicians.
Teaching & Leadership
We value education. You’ll play a key role in supervising and mentoring junior doctors and medical students, sharing your knowledge and passion for rural emergency medicine
