Senior estimator -Leading hand carpenter -carpenter -2nd year apprentice - Bespoke projects Sydney wide - Permanent position available
One of Sydney's best and most respected high-end carpentry company’s is looking for a senior estimator, leading hand carpenter, carpenters and apprentices to work on multi-million dollar new builds and renovations around the Eastern Suburbs, north shore, and inner western suburbs of Sydney.

The Role:
You will be working in a team of Carpenters & Leading Hands under an experienced operations manager that will help you progress and move up within the company whilst working on highly detailed projects up to $15 million

The business believes in promoting and ongoing support within the company and there is a clear progression path to Leading Hand & Foreman positions for those that desire this path. In house leadership training opportunities are available for those that desire progression as well.

Operations manager

Operations manger position requires candidate to have been a carpenter or builder and have a strong knowledge of high end carpentry and building, project management experience would be a plus but not 100% needed.

Salary to be based upon experience level

Rates are from $45-$70 per hour for carpenters and leading hands

Rates are from $23 per hour for apprentices

Estimator Requirements

Experience:

Minimum 5–7 years in construction estimating, with at least 2 in high-end carpentry and bespoke door/window projects

Bachelors degree in construction management , project management

Proven experience reading and interpreting architectural and structural plans

Technical Skills:

Proficient in estimating software (e.g. Buildxact, Wunderbuild, Excel, Bluebeam)

Strong understanding of framing systems, door & window construction, and hardware specification

Competence in producing accurate BOQs, cost breakdowns, and labour assessments

Industry Knowledge:

Familiarity with the NCC, AS2047 (windows/doors), and relevant Australian standards

Understanding of joinery shop processes, site-based installation sequencing, and lead times

Soft Skills:

Excellent attention to detail and time management

Strong communication skills for client-facing estimates, RFIs, and coordination with architects or builders

Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tenders simultaneously

Desirable:

Trade background in carpentry or joinery

Experience with high-end residential projects in the Sydney/Eastern Suburbs market

The requirements:

Cert III in Carpentry (not needed for apprentices ) (please note any international applicants will require their certificates to be changed over)

Experience working on high-end residential projects

General carpentry duties to work on everything from set-out, framing to finishes as well as managing apprentices.

Team player

An eye for detail and the ability to work at a low margin of error

Drivers licence and ute or van

Own tools
