Support families. Strengthen communities. Be the difference.

At Youturn, we believe in empowering families and communities to thrive. Join our team of compassionate professionals delivering life-changing support to families navigating complex challenges—and be part of something exciting from the ground up.

About Youturn

Youturn is a not-for-profit organisation committed to creating safe spaces and opportunities for young people and families across southern Queensland. Our services span youth homelessness, mental health, suicide prevention, and child and family wellbeing. We are driven by purpose, values, and real impact—and we invite you to be part of the change.

About the Program – Noosa Family Support

The Noosa Family Support program is a new pilot early intervention initiative endorsed by Youturn. The Program will provide case management support to families experiencing vulnerability who would benefit from additional support to improve the wellbeing of their children and build their capacity to care and protect them.

The program focuses on early intervention, skill development, community education and connection, coordination and support, budgeting, household management strategies, and supporting families to adopt daily routines. The goal is to empower families to build resilience, reduce risk of harm, and strengthen relationships.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging team member who is passionate about making a difference. You'll play a key role in shaping and implementing this pilot program, with a grassroots approach to building strong family and community outcomes. You will also support the collection of meaningful data and insights that help us demonstrate outcomes and continuously improve our services.

About the Role

As a Case Officer, you will work directly with families experiencing multiple and/or complex needs, such as risk of homelessness, mental health concerns, or substance use. You’ll deliver tailored support that helps families develop essential life skills (including parenting skills), manage risks, and improve family functioning.

You will also:

Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and families.

Develop and implement client-centred case plans aligned with evidence-based frameworks, including Safe & Together™ and Strengthening Families, Protecting Children.

Conduct safety and risk assessments using structured decision-making tools.

Use the collaborative assessment and planning framework to take a single case plan approach.

Build strong working relationships with local services and stakeholders to work collaboratively.

Provide culturally responsive support, especially to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation, reporting, and compliance with program and organisational requirements.

Contribute to continuous program learning by capturing and analysing key data to measure impact and identify service gaps.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a motivated professional who thrives in a dynamic and people-focused environment.

Essential:

Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or related discipline.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a case management role, ideally supporting families with complex needs.

Demonstrated ability to apply trauma-informed and family-centred practices.

Experience in conducting comprehensive risk and safety assessments.

Proven ability to build rapport with clients, particularly those considered ‘hard to reach’.

Strong knowledge of the Child Protection Act, Child Safety standards, and relevant legislation.

Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with experience working across government, community, and sector partners.

Culturally competent practice and experience supporting families from diverse backgrounds.

High-level written skills, including professional report writing and case notes.

Knowledge of local services and networks, or the ability to acquire this quickly.

Experience managing behavioural and crisis situations and implementing immediate safety responses.

Other Requirements:

Current Open ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence

Current Working with Children Blue Card (or ability to obtain)

Eligibility for a Suitability Check from the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs
