We are looking predominantly mature male staff to work with a young client in a SIL environment which is 24/7 care and rotating shifts. Client is his early 20's. Our client has schizophrenia and a mild to moderate ID. Behaviour support plans are in place to help staff and client manoeuvre around triggers, mental health swings etc.

For our clients we make sure as much as possible that they have a say in who works with them so any behaviours are minimal. clients are much less dysregulated when they know staff because they helped to chose them, gel with and trust them. We run a client focused service that has done amazing things for our complex clients because we listen to them, engage with them and help them to explore and reach their dreams and or goals. Client focused is not just feeding, housing and providing a safe environment it is listening, exploring with them things they did not know they could do, growing a professional friendship but having boundaries, empathy for where the client is at any given time, emotionally, mentally and knowing when to back off and give them space.

You will need to have experience with young people who have come out of the foster care/out of home care system and mental health. You should likely be male although the right female will be considered. one of the clients has some triggers around females and behaviours are more prevalent when females are on shift.
