This role is ideal for someone who thrives in afternoon and evening shifts and is passionate about Vietnamese cuisine, particularly stir-fry cooking.

The Role

As a cook at Eight Monkeys, you will take charge of the stir-fry section and contribute to a dynamic and collaborative kitchen. You will be responsible for preparing dishes to a high standard and ensuring consistency, flavour, and presentation across the board.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Prepare, cook, and season a variety of Vietnamese dishes, with a focus on stir-fries

Present dishes attractively and consistently

Take dietary requirements into account during preparation and cooking

Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to maintain quality and efficiency

Monitor and regulate stove temperature and cooking equipment during service

Maintain food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards in all kitchen areas

Supervise junior cooks and kitchenhands as required

May contribute to planning menus, taking seasonal availability into account

About you:

At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role

At least a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)

Ability to work afternoon and evening shifts

Prior experience with Vietnamese cuisine (highly regarded)

Strong skills using stoves, especially in a stir-fry cooking environment

A great work ethic and attention to detail

The ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Reliability and a proactive, hardworking attitude
