We are currently looking to appoint a competent, hardworking, and above all RELIABLE all-rounder, semi-skilled metal-processor (or similarly skilled individual with experience in the operation of metal processing equipment used in steel fabrication workshops). Previous experience in livestock trailer manufacturing and assembly will be highly regarded but is not essential.
This position will see you reporting to our Stores & Procurement Manager and supporting/liaising with our Workshop Foreman and Section Leaders in all areas of steel processing, materials handling, and housekeeping.
To be successful you will be/have:
Operation of Machinery
Aptitude for interpretation of cutting lists and/or technical drawings and specifications - to ensure accuracy of raw materials selections, marking of reference points ready for processing using a measuring tape, and inspection of processed stock to ensure correct dimensions.
Ability to select, measure, cut, and handle components with due care.
Operate metal cutting, folding, and pressing machinery, and other metal processing tools at its most efficient level – set guides, stops, and other controls on machining tools and presses with precision and efficiency. Prior experience operating Bandsaw, Cold Saw, Guillotine, Punch & Shears, and Brake Press – highly regarded.
Manage plant throughput and resource usage through effective communication, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
Operate and maintain workspace and machinery in a high-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring smooth and consistent production.
Experience in receiving, checking, and managing stock will be highly regarded.
Handling, loading and unloading of raw materials and finished products, with regular manual lifting involved.
Teamwork, Task Planning & Time Management
Work collaboratively with the production team to contribute to task planning
Demonstrate effective time management, including the ability to prioritize work to maintain efficient workflows and meet production targets effectively.
Actively participate in initiatives to improve processes and minimize waste
Deploy a common sense, practical approach to task completion, in accordance with WH&S requirements
Must be/have:
Demonstrate a work history of reliability and steady employment.
Background in machine operation and working with steel materials or in a similar industrial setting – highly valued.
Structured and careful approach to work, characterised by planning, organization, and attention to detail - highly regarded.
Exceptional time management skills, and ability to multi-task jobs and prioritise to meet production deadlines.
Self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and the aptitude to work autonomously, when required.
Ability to follow specific work instructions and have a keen eye for detail with measurements using a tape measure.
Proactive self-starter with an enthusiastic, flexible attitude and the willingness to learn and expand knowledge.
Team-player, demonstrating a commitment to safety of self and others.
Take pride in workmanship with a strong focus on quality.
Skillful with manual tasks and enjoy hands-on work.
Basic hand and power tools operation skills.
Forklift operation (Forklift License – highly regarded)
Current Driver’s Licence.
