With our nearly completed 35,000-head feedlot we are looking for a skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic or Trade Assistant to join our maintenance team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a high-performing agricultural business—without FIFO rosters—where your contribution matters.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of agricultural and heavy machinery. You’ll support the daily operations of the feedlot and logistics teams through preventative and reactive maintenance, bringing technical expertise and a can-do attitude to every task.

Key Responsibilities

Service and maintain machinery including feed tractors and wagons, loaders, bobcats, tractors, and utility vehicles

Conduct fixed plant maintenance, particularly in the feed mill

Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs and component changeouts

Perform scheduled servicing, breakdown response, and preventative maintenance

Maintain workshop safety, cleanliness, and inventory (including parts management)

Accurately complete maintenance records and job cards using Gearbox (maintenance management software)

Train equipment operators in basic daily maintenance checks

Accurately complete maintenance records and job cards

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance operations

What You’ll Bring

Qualified Diesel Mechanic / Diesel Fitter or extensive trade assistant experience

Strong mechanical aptitude with experience across heavy vehicles, ag equipment, and plant machinery

Current driver’s licence (MC preferred)

Familiarity with maintenance software systems – experience with Gearbox highly regarded

Proven experience with diagnostic tools (Cummins, CAT, John Deere systems)

Electrical, fabrication, welding, or concreting experience highly regarded

Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team

High level of attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices

Excellent organisational and communication skills
