Key Responsibilities
• Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB). Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
• Month-End and Year-End Close:
Manage and coordinate the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations, to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• General Ledger Management:
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including preparing and reviewing complex balance sheet and P&L reconciliations. Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the development of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans. Collaborate with departmental heads to monitor performance against budget.
• Tax Compliance and Reporting:
Assist with corporate income tax calculations and liaise with external tax advisors where required.
• Audit and External Reporting:
Coordinate and support year-end audit activities. Prepare workpapers, respond to auditor queries, and ensure audit compliance.
• Fixed Assets and Depreciation:
Manage the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and monthly depreciation. Ensure assets are accurately recorded and capitalised.
• Internal Controls and Process Improvement:
Review existing accounting processes and internal controls, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• ERP and Systems Use:
Utilise accounting systems (e.g., MYOB, SAP, Xero, or other ERP) to process and analyse financial data. Assist in system upgrades or implementations as needed.
• Cash Flow Management:
Monitor cash flow and assist in forecasting cash requirements. Prepare weekly or monthly cash flow reports for management.
• Stakeholder Communication:
Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, and external stakeholders to ensure financial processes are aligned and well-communicated.
• Team Collaboration and Support:
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior finance staff. Review their work and support their professional development.
Requirements
• Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• CPA or CA qualified (or working towards)
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar accounting role
• Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and tax obligations
• High attention to detail and analytical skills
• Proficiency in MYOB, Xero, or ERP systems
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Experience in a manufacturing or project-based environment is a plus
• Prefer to communicate effectively in English and Mandarin
