About the Program
The National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) is a free, independent, and confidential service. Its primary aim is to provide advocacy support, information, outreach, education, and community development to current and potential consumers of Australian Government-subsidised aged care services. The program also supports their representatives and families across Central Australia.
About the Role
Reporting to the Lead Practitioner - Aged Care Advocacy, the Case Worker is responsible for delivering advocacy support, information, outreach, and education to both aged care participants and providers. This role plays a key part in ensuring the program achieves its objectives, with a strong focus on promoting the rights of older people. The Case Worker supports and empowers elderly participants to be actively involved in decisions affecting their lives and to advocate for their own needs, whether in residential aged care or home care settings.
What we are looking for
- Relevant qualification in Certificate III in Aged Care Work, Certificate III in Community Services, or experience in aged care services with the intention to work toward relevant qualification.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with excellent case note and report writing.
- Adept in empowering and advocating the needs of participants and managing conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people in both urban and remote communities.
