Midwifery Unit Manager, Level 3 - Birthing Services - Royal Hospital for Women

The Royal Hospital for Women is the only stand-alone Women's Hospital in New South Wales providing unique opportunities for innovative clinical practice initiatives. It is part of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) and is co-located with other hospitals on the Randwick Hospitals Campus. What You'll Be Doing:

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. The MUM 3 provides leadership and coordination of Birthing Services and the Maternity Assessment Unit (MAU) at the Royal Hospital for Women (RHW) and is responsible to the Midwifery Clinical Co-Director and the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services and works closely with the Medical and Midwifery Co-Directors of Maternity and Newborn Services; MUM Midwifery Group Practice (MGP); Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) Midwifery Practice Development; Midwifery Educators; CMC High Risk Pregnancy and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure provision of quality, woman-centred care. The MUM 3 liaises effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of an excellent standard of care for mothers and babies and their primary others accessing the Birthing Services.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Current registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and current NSW Driver’s Licence.
  2. Relevant management tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a demonstrated commitment to professional development.
  3. A demonstrated knowledge and experience in the management and delivery of health care services and the development, evaluation and ongoing support of contemporary models of midwifery care.
  4. Proven ability in innovative clinical service delivery, harm minimisation and practice development.
  5. Effective interpersonal and communication skills that demonstrate the ability to engage and manage teams and support innovative practices.
  6. Ability to lead risk management activities related to maternity services provided within the Birthing Services environment and to implement strategies to ensure the ongoing provision of safe and high quality midwifery services to women.
  7. Proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and articulate and achieve a vision for midwifery services.
  8. Excellent Midwifery clinical skills and a demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative team environment, with effective problem solving, delegation and negotiation skills.
