Role Details:

Join us at the Department for Child Protection's Keswick office as we expand our Office of Professional Practice team. We're seeking experienced Psychologists who are passionate about supporting vulnerable children, young people, and families through high-quality clinical expertise.

In this role, you will:

Conduct independent, evidence-based psychological assessments of clients efficiently and professionally.

Prepare detailed psychological reports, participate in panels and case conferences, and provide expert testimony in court. You will help ensure all parties are well informed about each client's needs and circumstances.

Deliver therapeutic interventions that are clinically appropriate and evidence-based.

Assist in developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing support plans for staff who work with clients affected by trauma and/or neglect.

To be successful:

You have a sound understanding of child and adolescent development, the challenges faced by children and young people in care, and the legislative framework surrounding child protection. You understand the impact of abuse and neglect, and can recognise the broader risk factors affecting families, including mental health issues, substance misuse, family breakdown, and intergenerational trauma.

You can clearly communicate psychological insights in both written and verbal formats, and provide reports and evidence to clients, colleagues and the Courts with confidence and professionalism.

If you're ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people, and you work well both independently and as part of a dedicated team, then we encourage you to apply.

About the Business:

The Department for Child Protection (DCP) plays a key role in the protection of children, young people and their families within South Australia. The department provides support to vulnerable children and young people to be safe, strong and connected.
