Applications are sought from suitably qualified persons for the permanent, full-time position of Security Team Leader.

The successful applicant will have strong supervisory skills and experience working in a security related field. An ability to engage professionally with people from all levels and diverse backgrounds is essential.

You will support the Security Operations Manager in leading a team of Security Officers to provide vigilant security to the Parliamentary Reserve and annexes, while also creating a positive first impression of the Parliament for visitors. The Security team is responsible for protecting property within the parliamentary precinct, including the secure processing of mail, and ensuring personnel safety remains a top priority. This position involves supervising the day-to-day functions of the security staff, including the screening room and patrols, while responding to incidents and enquiries in a calm and professional manner. Work outside of normal hours in the evening will be required when Parliament is sitting.

Applicants will need to meet the following selection criteria:

Essential

A minimum of (3) years security experience in the public or private sector.

2-3 years demonstrated experience supervising a team.

A knowledge of security services encompassing security technology, security practices and procedures.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Well-developed public relation skills with an ability to effectively deal with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.

Reliability, dependability and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Must be physically fit.

Must possess a current National Police Clearance (no more than 12 months old).

Experience in CCTV control room operations and urgent incident response.

Desirable

Police or Military experience

Certificate III in Security Operations

Current Senior First Aid certificate

Experience as a Fire Warden
