As our valued staff member goes on leave, we are seeking passionate and motivated Service Chefs to join our team and provide essential support and coverage within our service operations. As an experienced Service Chef, you will be responsible for supporting children and fellow team members, ensuring high-quality meal preparation, promoting healthy eating habits, and adhering to food safety regulations and the National Quality Standards (NQS).

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing nutritionally balanced meals and snacks for each child in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring they align with the service's routines and dietary needs.
• Adhering to all food safety protocols in accordance with company Health and Safety policies, and ensuring the kitchen, utensils, and crockery are consistently clean, organised, and well-maintained.
• Ensuring each child's dietary needs, allergy requirements, and preferences are fully accommodated and supported.
• Fostering positive meal time experiences by educating children on the food being consumed and promoting healthy eating habits.
• Actively supervising children during cooking experiences and taking all necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well being.
• Building and maintaining respectful and professional relationships with both families and children, while actively encouraging feedback and involvement in the meal planning and selection process.

Skills/Qualifications:

• ⁠This position requires a Food Handling/Food Safety Certificate.
• A Certificate II OR Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is desirable.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate is a must.
• Must hold a valid working with children's check.
• Previous experience in a Service Chef role or a similar position.
• ⁠Demonstrate strong understanding of allergens and the food safety guidelines.
• ⁠Understanding of the Reggio Emilia philosophy is desirable but not essential.
• Positive and optimistic outlook, friendly disposition and a great team player.
• ⁠Passionate about the Early Childhood Sector and an advocate for children.
• Ability to build strong relationships with fellow Educators, the children and the families.
