Role Overview
As a member of the HSEQ Team, the purpose of the HSE Advisor is to contribute to the fulfilment of Prysmian’s Quality and HSE responsibilities and ensuring WHS legislative requirements are met. The HSE Advisor is responsible to develop, support, monitor and participate in all site safety practices, ensuring compliance with HSEQ standards and rules. The role is integral in developing and shaping the site Safety Culture across all functions and Team Members.
The role is responsible for Plan, Do, Check and Action of HSEQ learning and development activities of the front-line production workforce with the goal of continuously improving the capability of the front-line production workforce. The role will partner closely with key stakeholders to understand Prysmian’s HSEQ requirements and strive to maintain a continuously safe, healthy and sustainable workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ):
Consult with key stakeholders in the development & implementation of HSE procedures and support tools
Coach and mentor HSE Committee members, Managers, Process Owners, Team leaders & HSE team members as HSE Champions
Liaise with state and federal agencies to ensure all improvement notices, orders, etc. are escalated, managed and closed out in an effective and timely manner. Distribute a HSE alert to ensure learning's are shared across all sites
Develop and implement HSE strategies to support risk reduction and HSE awareness
Design and deliver HSE training programs to support system implementation, skill development & risk reduction
Engage and influence site management teams to drive KPI achievement and accountability
Assist in the development and implementation of the ANZ HSE Management System that meet AS4801, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 audit needs
Drive physical and system improvements through the completion of risk assessments, safety inspections and internal and external audits
Drive compliance practice implementation and review across all sites
Supporting RTW Coordinator in all RTW management activities and Team Member rehabilitation strategies
Coordinate on site Physio programs and feedback loops
Run Site Safety Committee meetings and administer changes and closing out of Employee concerns.
WHS Compliance:
Take reasonable care to ensure health and safety of self and others
Use all provided personal protective clothing and equipment (PPE) in accordance with directions.
Assist Prysmian Group with its WHS obligations by reporting and recording all incidents and hazards that may cause injury to self and others.
Participate in training to support the implementation of the WHS Policy and ensure compliance with the appropriate legislation.
Engage with managers or supervisors in consultation on any OHSE issues or information
Cost, efficiency and sustainability: Monitor and report on training spending to meet budget requirement and conduct cost reduction activities
Employee engagement:
Contribute to building a Safety Engagement and Enablement culture through implementing safety learning and development and team problem solving initiatives.
Support the leadership team to review individual competency/skill gaps and coordinate development activities.
Capability development:
Conduct safety training needs analysis
Interact with the Frontline Operators, Leaders, and Managers to determine development priorities for front line team.
Develop training programs in line with the training needs and tap into the expertise of the internal or external subject matter experts (including using e-learning platforms).
Implement training plans through working cohesively with the manufacturing/Logistics and Warehousing managers, coordinators and internal or subject matter experts etc.
Ensures that internal policies, procedures and other legal requirements are incorporated into training programs and applied into daily practices
Requirements
Skills and Competencies: Strong operational, problem solving, process management, administration skills, change management and communication skills.
Experience: 4+ years in similar role, preferably in high-risk industries or FMCG manufacturing, with a proven track record of improving safety culture.
Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or a relevant discipline. Additional training in Continuous Improvement Systems and Project Management (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma) preferred.
