We are seeking applications from candidates with good people skills and a high level of physical fitness to join the NMC Team as Waste Transfer Operators at our facilities in Avoca, Longford, Campbell Town, and Evandale.
About the role
The main function of the role is to assist customers using the Waste Transfer facilities. You will use your customer service skills on a daily basis to assist the public to use the sites, and to collect the waste disposal fees, and will also be involved in site maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure the safety of the public.
The role involves working a variable roster and includes weekday and weekend requirements.
Key Responsibilities of the role include:
To liaise with and assist the public in using the Waste Transfer Centre
To ensure the operations meet environmental standards and Council requirements
Accountable for collecting correct charges as per Council’s waste disposal charges
Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of Council Waste Transfer Stations to a standard that meets public expectations and legislative requirements
Responsible to operate Council plant and equipment to assist with the operation of the site
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be reliable, self-motivated, have excellent communication skills, be able to manage your time and work priorities, and be proactive and show initiative.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
Previous experience in customer service.
An understanding of the role and function of waste transfer stations and recycling principles
Current driver’s licence
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills
Be reliable and punctual
Undertake and pass a pre-employment medical including a urine drug & alcohol test and a musculoskeletal and fitness assessment
Be able to provide a police check showing no serious offences
Desirable qualifications.
Previous experience in Waste Transfer operations
Previous experience operating plant and equipment (e.g. forklift, Bakchoe, Loader)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs
