The position:

  • The Senior Dietitian will provide a consumer focused and high quality clinical dietetic service in the allocated clinical areas, which may include: medical, surgical, paediatrics, parenteral nutrition. Services may be provided to inpatients or outpatients
  • The Senior Dietitian will contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service through practice supervision with other staff, and contribution to service planning and quality improvement activities

You will need:

  • Significant clinical dietetic experience across a wide range of clinical areas and ability to manage complex cases
  • Exceptional teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership skills in providing professional supervision and undertaking quality improvement activities

The Department of Health Tasmania oversees various hospitals across the state, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital, Northwest Regional Hospital, and Mersey Community Hospital, as well as district hospitals and ambulance services. Details of appointments:

  1. Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 34.2 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed date.
  2. Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 33.28 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed date until 31 December 2025.
  3. Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 15.2 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed date until 31 December 2025.
  4. Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working 7.6 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed date until 31 December 2025.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances:

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Benefits available to eligible candidates:

  • Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Or where regulatory requirements exist, NDIS Q&S Commission Provider Registration Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification/program of study accredited by Dietitians Australia or overseas qualified dietitians will be required to complete Dietetic Skills Recognition (DSR) through Dietitians Australia.
  • Eligible for full membership with the Dietitians Australia.
  • Eligible to join the Accredited Practising Dietitian Program.
  • Full member of Dietitians Australia
  • Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
