Steel Slitting Machine Operator

We are seeking an experienced steel slitting machine operator to work alongside existing operators to train and progress to be a senior operator on a high speed slitting line. Cross training across more than one machine is expected so an adaptable mindset is required as the role requires flexibility and some support to the strapping and packing team is a critical part of the role.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of steel and manufacturing and preferably with prior experience operating a slitting machine, however operating other machinery will be a desirable skillset. Forklift license is essential and overhead crane experience desirable however training can be supplied for the right candidate.

You will be required to calculate and set up machine and machine headset as per each individual job card. This machine is manually set up. Working with other packing and strapping staff, and another operator to set up each end of the machine, double check, run, assist packers and strappers and fill out job cards at the end of the job.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of steel and manufacturing and preferably with prior experience operating a slitting machine, however operating other machinery will be a desirable skillset. Safety is of paramount importance. An understanding of working within safe work practices is essential. Regular toolbox meetings are held to cement these ideals and collaborate with other teammates on continuous improvement in our organisation.
