About the Position

As a Laboratory Technician, you’ll play a critical role in the preparation of mineral samples for metallurgical testing. Tasks include: -

Preparing and polishing sample blocks for analysis

Managing multiple batches of samples with care and accuracy

Following lab procedures and safety guidelines

Cleaning equipment and work areas to avoid contamination

Supporting other lab teams during quieter work periods

Happy to do repetitive work to a high standard

Key Responsibilities Include

Work safely and follow all Rio Tinto procedures

Ensure accurate sample handling, labelling, and tracking

Maintain a clean, organised, and contamination-free lab space

Complete all work consistently and within set timeframes

Communicate effectively and work well in a shared space

Skills and Experience Required

Previous laboratory or sample prep experience preferred

Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques advantageous but not essential

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow exact procedures

Able to work independently and manage repetitive tasks

Comfortable working with small sample sizes (<0.1g)
