The Opportunity
The Business Development Manager (BDM) plays a critical role in driving the growth and sustainability of the organisation. This position is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and securing partnerships that align with SSI’s mission and strategy for Queensland and nationally. The BDM is tasked with analysing market trends, understanding community needs, and developing strategies to enhance the delivery of services by identifying new growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
- Identifying opportunities for business improvement and strategic new business opportunities
- Assessing potential partners, performing competitive research, evaluating proposed deals/partnerships and analysing and developing business cases for new business targets.
- Developing project budget from project and resource plans, managing project through development and implementation stages according to budget.
- Designing and developing strategies and processes, in consultation with team members/stakeholders/business consultants, which will support the implementation of the project.
- Identifying key stakeholders and working pro-actively to gain their support and endorsement by establishing contacts, conducting presentations/workshops and attending stakeholder meetings.
- Identifying project dependencies and working with relevant departments to ensure plans can be carried out effectively and dependencies are resolved.
- Develop, execute, and oversee a business strategy that prioritises growth
- Administration support for the GM of Business Development as required
- Other duties as directed from time to time within your skills range and capacity.
Requirements for Success
- At least 5 years’ experience as a lower-level Project Manager or at least 5 years industry experience at a senior management level together with relevant tertiary education in a business-related discipline.
- High level report writing and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience in growth or related function including outstanding negotiation skills, persuasive ability and excellent communication skills.
- Expert product and industry knowledge coupled with the ability to deal with clients at all levels and translate client needs into a complete solution.
- Experience in customer service, marketing, or a sales-related field
- Strong knowledge of business and sales growth techniques
- Exceptional project management skills
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
Experience working in the community services or human services sector.
