The Role – Business Services / Advisory Manager

For an experienced senior accountant seeking to transition into leadership and strategic advisory. You will oversee a client portfolio, balancing compliance responsibilities with advisory initiatives. In this role, you will champion quality, cultivate your team, and enhance client service—within a firm committed to your professional and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Compliance Oversight: Lead the preparation and review of financial statements, tax returns, and BAS/IAS lodgements for diverse structures—companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals
• Month-End & Reporting Leadership: Manage month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and insightful reporting for clients
• Team Leadership & Development: Mentor senior and intermediate accountants, review deliverables, and foster continuous development
• Client Advisory & Relationship Management: Identify advisory opportunities, guide tax planning, and engage in strategic client discussions
• Process Improvement & Systems Governance: Enhance internal workflows and leverage cloud accounting software (Xero, MYOB)
• Regulatory & Technical Guidance: Monitor legislative updates, disseminate knowledge internally, and assist clients in staying ahead
• Portfolio Management: Serve as the primary client liaison, resolve technical queries, and coordinate with leadership

What You’ll Bring

• 5-8+ years in public practice or business services, with progressive experience in compliance and advisory
• CA/CPA qualification or nearing completion – with full support provided
• Proficient in cloud accounting platforms (Xero, MYOB)
• Analytically driven: Competent in month-end processes, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Strong leadership & communication: Confident mentoring team members and engaging with clients
• Organised & proactive: Detail-oriented, deadline-conscious, and improvement-focused
