Role Overview
Reporting to a highly experienced Payroll Manager, you'll be part of a close-knit team of 4 and take ownership of end-to-end payroll for 1000+ employees. The environment is dynamic and complex, covering a number of different business entities, a mix of EAs and awards, and a large casual workforce.This is a hands-on role with clear potential to step into a 2IC/team lead position if demonstrating the right attitude and skills.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end weekly payroll processing (~1000+ employees across 16 locations)
- Complex EBA and modern award interpretation
- Manual adjustments, long service leave calculations, and data validations
- Superannuation and payroll tax compliance
- Labour allocation and ad hoc reporting/analysis
- Managing manual and digital timesheets (Kronos)
- Payroll amendments, new employee setups, and onboarding
- Involvement in payroll process improvement and system projects
Candidate Profile
You're a confident payroll professional with a solid foundation and are ready to take the next step in your career. You thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving problems, and have a keen interest in improving processes. With 3-5 years of experience in medium-to-large complex payroll environments (500+ employees), you bring strong hands-on skills, including manual processing and payroll adjustments. You have strong Excel experience with pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, and have worked with time and attendance systems, ideally Kronos. Your deep understanding of EBAs, awards, and IFA agreements complements your experience with ERP systems. Highly analytical and detail-oriented, you are driven to ensure accuracy and compliance. A qualification in payroll or finance would be a valuable advantage.
