The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced and detail-driven accountant who enjoys working closely with business owners and solving real-world financial problems. You'll lead client engagements, review compliance work, and deliver tax and advisory services with confidence.

This is an on-site role in our Newcastle office — ideal for someone stepping back from full-time hours or looking for long-term, flexible work that supports genuine work-life balance in a collaborative, high-performing environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Prepare and review tax returns and financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and sole traders

Prepare and review BAS, IAS, and FBT lodgements

Provide tailored tax planning and business advisory services to SME clients

Review compliance work completed by junior accountants

Build long-term relationships and offer meaningful support to your client portfolio

Contribute to process improvements and quality service delivery

Potential to grow your own client base within the firm over time

What You’ll Bring

Degree qualified in Accounting, with CA or CPA membership (or working toward)

5+ years of experience in Australian public practice

Strong IT acumen and experience with Xero, Practice Ignition, Karbon, and other cloud-based accounting tools

Registered Tax Agent status (or willingness to become one) is a bonus, but not required

Proven ability to review and oversee compliance work

Excellent communication skills — you explain financial matters clearly and in a way clients can actually understand

A collaborative, team-first mindset with a passion for small business
