Position: Nurse Unit Manager – Medical/Surgical

The Role:

An exciting leadership opportunity for a skilled and compassionate Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to oversee a dynamic Medical/Surgical ward at a leading healthcare facility. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, staff management, clinical governance, and operational leadership across the unit.

Working within a modern and supportive environment, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team across services that may include Acute Medical, Surgical, Rehabilitation, Mental Health, and Oncology, with access to cutting-edge resources such as hydrotherapy pools and fully equipped rehab gyms.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day leadership and coordination of the nursing team

Manage rostering, staffing levels, and performance development

Promote a culture of clinical excellence, safety, and continuous improvement

Liaise with allied health and medical teams to ensure cohesive patient care

Support and mentor nursing staff, students, and early-career clinicians

Oversee accreditation and quality improvement initiatives

Essential Criteria:

✓ Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
✓ Minimum 3+ years of leadership experience in an acute care setting
✓ Demonstrated clinical experience in Medical/Surgical/Rehabilitation nursing
✓ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
✓ Proven ability to lead and manage nursing teams
✓ Strong organisational and time management skills
✓ Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination and current Police Check & WWCC
