Your Opportunity

Assist the Revenue Coordinator with the effective and efficient operation of the Revenue Section including administering rates and utility charges, accounts receivable, collection of outstanding debts and resolution of external customer enquiries.

Term: Full-time

Hours of Work: 72.5 hours per fortnight

Pay Level: $3,061.70 to $3,258.83 per fortnight (Level 4), plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading

In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependant on relevant skills and experience.

Employment Base: Stanthorpe, Queensland

About the Department

The Financial Services Department falls within the Customer and Organisational Services directorate. The department is tasked with delivering high-level customer service experiences to Council’s internal and external stakeholders aligned with identified outcomes in Council’s Corporate and Operational Plans. The department ensures that Council remains financially sustainable while embracing innovation to drive outcomes for the Southern Downs community in an efficient and effective manner. The Department is responsible for the delivery of a variety of functions, including contracts and procurement, finance, Information Communication and Technology (ICT), revenue and business development.

  • Manage and provide expert advice and assistance to staff within the section, other Council sections and members of the public exercising high level judgement, initiative and confidentiality.
  • Coordinate the administration of revenue data and ensure related databases are accurately maintained.
  • Prepare and collate revenue data for reporting, modelling and responses to internal and external customers.
  • Assist in levying all rates and charges in a timely manner in accordance with legislation and Council policies.
  • Assist in the sale of land for arrears of rates process to ensure it is completed in a timely manner in accordance with legislation and Council policies

What You Will Need

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • The legal right to live and work in Australia
  • Previous experience in rating and property functions including comprehensive knowledge of the provisions in the Local Government Act or Regulation and associated accounting / audit requirements.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with commitment to the provisions of excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills including the ability to manage time effectively across the team to achieve outcomes within required timeframes.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in an office environment with exposure to financial procedures, financial reconciliations and working to a high degree of accuracy.
  • To be able to demonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description
