THE POSITION:
Fairfield City Council's City Assets, Parks and Open Space department is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Plant Operator to join our Open Space Branch. This role involves using mowers, tractors, and weed spraying equipment to assist in the maintenance and upkeep of Council's parks, gardens, and open spaces.
We are looking for a physically fit and safety-conscious operator who takes pride in their work and is committed to delivering high-quality service. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and care of plant and equipment, ensuring all tasks are carried out to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of Fairfield's open spaces, providing essential services to the community. ESSENTIAL:
- Current Class 1A driver's licence
- Demonstrated experience operating large plant (Tractor) and equipment including operating out-front mowers plus attachments (typically 2 years).
- Operating minor plant and equipment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for completing necessary paperwork
- Sound knowledge and practical application of WHS principles and Work Health and Safety legislation
DESIRABLE
- Certificate II in Horticulture, Local Government or Green Keeping or relevant industry experience
- Experience with operating weed spraying equipment
- Hold a current 'Chemcert' (Chemical Handling) qualification
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Permanent positions, 76 hours per fortnight
- This position is a Grade B, salary range is $58,484 p.a. with progression to $62,949p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $68,468 p.a.
- A Uniform is provided
- On the job training will be provided
