About the role

Council is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Plant Operator – Road Services to join our Infrastructure team.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating heavy plant, and being part of a team delivering high-quality public infrastructure.

As a Plant Operator, you will be responsible for operating various plant and equipment to carry out road construction, drainage, and maintenance activities across the Ku-ring-gai local government area.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Safe and efficient operation of plant equipment including loaders, skid steers, and excavators
• Assisting in drainage maintenance tasks
• Assisting in road patching, pavement repairs, and other civil maintenance tasks
• Conducting daily pre-start inspections and routine maintenance of plant
• Ensuring works are carried out in line with Council safety and environmental standards
• Working collaboratively with a small team to meet project deadlines

Required experience & skills

• Demonstrated experience in road and drainage construction or maintenance
• Proven experience operating plant machinery
• Current Class MR driver’s licence
• General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
• Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and customer service
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions on site
