The Role

This newly created position will suit a senior risk, governance or compliance professional seeking genuine ownership of an enterprise-wide portfolio. Reporting to the Chief People & Safety Officer, you will partner closely with senior stakeholders - including the Executive Leadership Team - to refine and embed governance frameworks and build organisational resilience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the organisation’s risk, governance and compliance function, with a focus on continuous improvement;
• Embedding and refining enterprise risk management frameworks, registers and reporting tools;
• Supporting the development and implementation of a new Business Continuity Plan (BCP);
• Coordinating internal audits and monitoring compliance with legislative and internal obligations;
• Reviewing and advising on organisational policies and controls; and
• Fostering a proactive, risk-aware culture across multiple sites and operational teams.

This is a hands-on and strategic role with a business partnering focus. It is ideal for someone who enjoys cross-functional collaboration and influencing change at an organisational level.

About You

You are a confident and capable risk and governance professional with strong enterprise experience and a passion for partnering with the business to deliver practical outcomes.

Your background will include:

• Demonstrated experience in enterprise risk, compliance or corporate governance roles;
• Knowledge of risk and business continuity standards (e.g. ISO 31000, ISO 22301);
• Strong ability to lead or coordinate audits, update risk registers, and shape compliance systems;
• An understanding of public or municipal operating environments (desirable but not essential);
• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills — comfortable working across all levels of the business, from operational teams to executive leaders; and
• A structured thinker with strong attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset

Multi-site or infrastructure-related experience will be advantageous, as will a background in organisations that operate with both public accountability and commerciality.
