We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join a great NSW Government team on a 12-month contract basis. This role is ideal for a results-driven and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working in a complex environment with evolving priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain performance reporting and monthly forecasting analytical models for various business units and cost centres.
• Identify and implement enhancements to reporting and finance processes to meet stakeholder expectations.
• Assist with annual budget preparation, aligning financial plans with corporate strategies and government objectives.
• Draft briefs, reports, and advisory papers on complex financial matters.
• Build and maintain strong consultative relationships with stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Support business case development and strategic decision-making through analytical services.
• Drive finance-related initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders to improve business performance.

Key Challenges:

• Ensuring timely and accurate collection, analysis, and reporting of financial data for internal and external purposes.
• Managing General Ledger accounts and completing all month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliation and reporting.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 6 years’ experience in a senior accounting role.
• CA or CPA qualified.
• Proven ability to independently prepare and manage financial statements and reporting processes.
• Strong experience using SAP and advanced Excel skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
