About the Role
You Connect is seeking compassionate and experienced support workers to join our dedicated team in the Newcastle Region. This role involves working with individuals living with Acquired and Traumatic Brain Injuries (iCare participants) and a teenage male client living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Level 3. You will provide tailored support in both residential and community settings.
Key Responsibilities
iCare Support Staff:
Deliver flexible, individualised services in-home and in the community.
Support life skills development, meal preparation, medication administration, and rehabilitation activities.
Facilitate rehabilitation centred activities such as attending medical appointments and implementing tailored interventions as per the attendant care plan.
Facilitate social, leisure, and recreational engagement.
Complex Disability Support Staff:
Provide in-home support to a teenage male with ASD Level 3.
Assist with daily living skills, emotional regulation, and sensory-friendly activities.
Manage behavioural challenges such as various forms of aggression and emotional outbursts with a calm, patient, and person-centred approach.
Collaborate closely with the client’s family to ensure consistent and effective support.
Required Qualifications
Unrestricted Driver’s Licence & Comprehensive Car Insurance
Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate
Working With Children Check (WWCC)
Clear National Police Check
NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC)
Preferred Qualifications
Industry specific qualifications such as a Certificate or Diploma in Individual Support, Disability, or Mental Health
About You
Reliable, empathetic and committed to supporting vulnerable people.
Relevant industry experience and knowledge; formal qualifications in Disability, Community Services, or similar.
A comprehensive understanding of disabilities and mental health issues and the challenges individuals face.
Ability to effectively manage and deescalate heightened behaviours.
