Job location

Our Corporate Office is located at Thomas Embling Hospital just 15 minutes north of the city. Due to our announced expansion across all Directorates, we have a need for experienced like-minded professionals to join our team to support our growing services. Our Directorates includes Thomas Embling Hospital, Prison Operations and our Community Directorate with highly skilled disciplines including Nursing, Lived Experience, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry, Psychologists and Social Work. We have an outstanding L&D and discipline Educator co-hort that continually upskill our already skilled and supportive team.

About the Role:

The Project Manager is primarily responsible for undertaking corporate and strategic service development activities to support the whole of organisation.

The position has a key role in assisting the Executive Director Projects and Infrastructure, in developing and implementing systemic improvements to enhance forensic mental health services provided by Forensicare. The position plays a leading role in the development of service models, business cases, project management, change management, and reviewing of new and existing models of care.

Duties:

  • Developing, planning, managing and supporting/leading assigned projects, keeping person-centred care at the centre of service design and delivery.
  • Ensuring adequate attention to legislative requirements and alignment of projects with organisational priorities, and strategic directions.
  • Leveraging agile and human-centred design methodologies in project development and management that support change readiness and transition.
  • Confirming and meeting all project reporting requirements.
  • Engaging key internal and external stakeholders, including consumer and carer groups, in line with Forensicare’s engagement principles.
  • Developing, implementing and managing appropriate project controls including assessing risks, delivery timelines to minimise potential resource, and budget impacts.
  • Identifying and report issues and take appropriate action, including escalation of emerging issues.

About You:

  • A sound understanding of community and government needs in relation to health care.
  • Project management experience, including proven ability to manage change successfully.
  • Sound interpersonal skills with proven ability to engage, consult and influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to map, analyse and reform business and operational policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to problem solve, including the ability to:
  • Seek all relevant information to enable problem solving
  • Analyse issues from different perspectives and draw sound inferences from information available
  • Identify and propose workable solutions to problems
  • Implement solutions

What you need:

A tertiary qualification in legal or a related public policy or human service delivery area (desirable).

Forensicare (Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health) is the state-wide specialist provider of forensic mental health services in Victoria. Forensicare is the only agency in Victoria that provides clinical forensic mental health services which span all components of the mental health and criminal justice sectors – giving Forensicare a unique perspective on mental health and public safety issues. It is able to provide specialist forensic mental health services tailored to meet the specific needs of both sectors.

We provide forensic mental health services for people:

with a serious mental illness in the criminal justice system

at risk of offending who pose a risk to themselves or others

referred from the general mental health system for specialist advice, support and/or treatment.

Forensicare’s primary focus is the provision of clinical services within a recovery framework. These services include the effective assessment, treatment and management of forensic patients, prisoners and clients.
