About the Position

We are looking to welcome an Engagement and Referral Practitioner to provide active engagement and referral support to vulnerable families where there are child protection concerns.

  • Full time position government funded until 31 March 2027 with possible extension.
  • Level 4 SCHCADS Award.
  • Salary range: $85,127 - $91,588 + Superannuation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a case load of client families and provide short term intervention (maximum of 6 weeks intervention period). This will include families from Indigenous, non-Indigenous and culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Successfully engage families in a timely manner and gain their consent to refer into appropriate services.
  • Discuss child protection concerns and complete necessary safety planning with families and children.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Allied Health, Human Services or Social Work.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working within the child protection field.
  • Ability to identify family and individual client needs using a child-centred approach.
  • Ability to identify and respond to child protection concerns.
  • Ability to have discussions around safety and complete appropriate safety planning with children and parents.

Other Requirements

  • Eligibility for a WWCC or professional exemption.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Legal ability to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required).
