Position: Project HSE Manager
Company: Tier 1 EPCM in Mining
Location: 15:13 FIFO ext. Perth to Pilbara Region
Employment Type: Contractor
Contract length: Initially 12 Months - Subjected to extensions
Role Responsibilities
This may include responsibilities but not limited to:
Ensure compliance with WA Safety Legislation by implementing and maintaining robust systems for hazard identification, risk management, incident reporting, and contractor compliance through regular audits and reviews.
Provide visible HSE leadership by leading and coaching the project team and contractors on safety initiatives (e.g., ICARE, SMM), fostering a positive safety culture, and allocating resources to support HSE goals.
Develop and manage contractor onboarding and alignment processes, including ‘Good to Go’ and post-mobilisation assessments, to ensure full compliance with the Project WHS Plan and legislative requirements.
Oversee prompt and thorough incident investigations, injury management, and emergency response preparedness; ensure adherence to EMO protocols and accurate reporting via Enablon and Worley Assurance systems.
Monitor HSE performance metrics, lead safety forums and training programs (e.g., CRAWs, CRM, supervisor training), and drive continuous improvement through corrective actions and proactive safety communication.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications & Training:
A recognized HS qualification is required.
Job Specific:
Over 10 years of experience as an HS Manager (preferably in a FIFO/ on-site setting) in the mining and/or construction industry.
Proven experience on iron ore sites and relevant safety systems.
Extensive technical and leadership experience in HS, including strategic planning and industry leadership in HS performance.
Strong knowledge of HS legislation and standards.
Interpersonal:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence contractor behavior.
Proven ability to build strong relationships, manage teams, and apply general management practices.
