Our client is seeking a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager to join a major construction project in Western Australia. This role will be responsible for monitoring, auditing, and managing site health and safety performance in line with legislative requirements, while supporting management and contractors in the implementation of robust HSE practices.

About the Role
As HSE Manager, you will report to the Construction Manager and play a key leadership role in fostering a strong safety culture on site. You will ensure compliance with safety regulations, guide contractor alignment processes, and lead initiatives that enhance safety outcomes across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with WA Safety Legislation by implementing effective systems for hazard identification, risk assessment, incident reporting, and contractor performance monitoring.

Provide visible HSE leadership and coach the site team and contractors on safety behaviours, initiatives (e.g. ICARE, SMM), and best practices.

Lead contractor mobilisation and integration processes, including initial assessments and alignment with project-specific WHS plans and legislative obligations.

Manage incident investigations, support injury management, and ensure emergency preparedness in accordance with project protocols and reporting systems.

Track and report on key HSE performance indicators, facilitate safety forums and training sessions (e.g. CRAWs, CRM, supervisor development), and implement continuous improvement measures.

Requirements

Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and strong knowledge of applicable WA legislation.

Demonstrated experience as an HSE Manager on FIFO construction or mining projects.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence safety behaviours and build a proactive safety culture across all levels of site personnel.

Proven ability to lead teams, manage contractor relationships, and deliver strategic and technical HSE outcomes on complex projects.

Organised, solutions-focused, and adaptable, with a commitment to continuous improvement and collaborative team engagement.
