The Role

The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is an historic and transformative endeavour for Australia. The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia’s economic and national security landscape for decades to come.

An APS 5 Information Security Analyst will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work. They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. They will provide detailed information security technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.

The APS 5 Information Security Analyst will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex or sensitive issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

The additional payment is a Building Capability Payment (BCP) which enables ASA to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace. Applicants engaged into a BCP position must consider the following. BCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA).

This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review. Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BCP may be reviewed and ceased. It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BCP is no longer necessary, as determined by ASA. Should the BCP be ceased you will be advised and your BCP additional payment will cease.
